[politics] Campaigns

Okay, the bashing between Obama and McCain is ridiculous. Fortunately, the Jesse Jackson and Phil Gramm remarks have only lasted a couple days. Hopefully we won’t be seeing too much of that rubbish… it gets old hearing the same things repeatedly repeated.

Then there are the third party candidates like Bob Barr that barely get any media attention. Whether that’s their fault or the media’s… well, each will blame the other.

[politics] FISA Amendment

Can you say bull?

Search for FISA here: http://thomas.loc.gov/home/c110query.html

Pretty much, any American who contacts any person outside the country can be subject to being monitored, meaning the federal government can monitor one’s emails, telephone calls, and so on.

Which brings me to my next point, quotes by James Madison:
- “A man has a property in his opinions and the free communication of them.”
- “As a man is said to have a right to his property, he may be equally said to have a property in his rights.”
- “All men having power ought to be mistrusted.”
- “If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”
- “Liberty may be endangered by the abuse of liberty, but also by the abuse of power.”
- “Wherever there is interest and power to do wrong, wrong will generally be done.”

And one last one by a Nazi Party leader:
- “Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” ~ Hermann Goering

Update - 08.07.2008

Posted on July 8th, 2008 in site news, news by exocorsair

So I got a Project Euler page up, but I’m going to get a script written up to ensure that nobody that hasn’t solved the problems see the solutions (although most are similar to those found in the forums).

Other than that, no real updates.

Also, over $45 in bux.to now. Not sure when to cash out…

Happy 1-Year Anniversary!
