Protoss Build Orders & Strategies
Cannon Rush
- 7 Pylon (scout with this probe)
- 8 Forge
- 9 Pylon (in opponent’s base)
- 9 Photon Cannon
Continuously build probes and cannons, making one probe per Cannon. Just make sure your own base is safe. Cheesy and otherwise weak.
Fast Expand (vs Z)
- 8 Pylon (down your ramp)
- 11 Forge
If your opponent has made a hatchery first, then 14 Nexus is the way to continue. If you scout a Spawning Pool, make two/three Photon Cannons before continuing with 14 Nexus. This will give you the economic power you need to keep up with the Zerg. Typically, if your opponent rushes you with lings, you can expect a Mutalisk harass later, else you might have to face Hydralisks. Keep scouting! Normally this build is continued with a quick Stargate tech to Corsairs to harass Overlords.
One-Gate Tech
- 8 Pylon
- 10 Gateway
- 12 Assimilator
- 14 Cybernetics Core
Pretty standard build, works against all three races to some degree. This build ignores Zealots in favor of Dragoons, so scouting is necessary to defend against a rush.
