Dance Dance Revolution
Is seriously one of the best games ever.
Some terminology you WILL need to know to be a successful DDR player:
Feet - the difficulty of a song, debatable, but I go with was Konami says
Airs - two or more concurrent steps
Freezes - freeze arrows, you need to stay on the arrow to get full points
Streams - long chains of arrows to step
Doubles - style of play, requires two pads, you play over eight arrows
AAA - top score possible! if you get one of these, congratulations!
ITG / In The Groove - a variant of DDR, very similar, typically harder songs
Scoring Guide:
pre-SUPERNOVA:
AAA -full combo of PERFECTs and OKs on all Freezes
AA - full combo

Tips for beginner players (1-4 feet):
Keep playing. That’s how you can get better at anything. On these songs, you can stay in the middle of the pad and hit the arrows as they come by, but I don’t suggest this; you’ll have to make an [annoying] switch from that to a different playing style.
Tips for light players (3-5 feet):
Continue playing. Get off from the middle of the pad. The way you play like this is to hit an arrow, and keep your foot on that arrow until another arrow comes up. Example: Say you have a sequence like up-right-up. You hit up with your left foot, keep your left foot there, hit the right arrow with your right foot, keep your right foot there, and hit the up arrow again with your left foot.
Tips for standard players (6-8 feet):
Keep it up! Now it’s time to practice alternating feet. Example: Sequence: left-down-right. Turn your body to the right, hit left with left foot, down with right foot, and right with left foot. DO NOT double-step, meaning for that sequence, left with left, down with right, right with right. Double-stepping is extremely draining and otherwise inferior to alternating feet.
Tips for expert players (9-10 feet):
You’re almost the best of the best (you have to go to the arcade to claim being the best)! At this point, just build stamina and work on conserving stamina while playing, by doing other physical activity (like running) and using a bar. Sooner or later, you’ll be able to clear and AA all the MAX/MaxX songs! Good luck!
